Learn to Love Yourself

Self-love is one of the hardest challenges life has to offer. Being accepting and content with how your life is going is something a lot of people struggle with. If you feel unloved in this world sometimes, know that is normal and you can search for this love within. Self-love is the best kind of love there is. It is very powerful to be open to challenging yourself in healthy ways, but never judge yourself. I want to share with you a few healthy ways I stay in-tune with myself and practice self-love. These tips have helped me learn to be accepting of all of me and be able to share my true love + happiness with others.

My Journey with Self-Love

I have lived many different places always in search of finding true happiness within others. I was constantly overlooking the one person who could love me most, myself! When I finally had the realization that self-love is the most powerful kind of love there is, my life changed in many ways. Being content with being with yourself is everything. Loving yourself takes time, practice, and repetition. Just know that you will always be your own biggest fan!

Practice Self-kindness

Understand and accept that you are human. No-one is perfect. Let your faults & fails be guidance to drive you to reaching something better. Be nice to yourself. Try not to push your self away from trying something new just because it is unfamiliar. Motivate yourself with kind words telling yourself you can!

  • I am motivated

  • I am strong

  • I am beautiful

  • I am hardworking

Have a Morning Routine

This has been a game changer for me. Having a morning practice is the best way I know to start my morning. It lets you clear your mind + prepare yourself for what the day has to come. I like to start with a body scan in the morning. Wake up and see how you feel. Then decide how you want your morning to go. Maybe you want to wake your body up with a few stretches or a warm shower! Do what feels right.

  • Meditation- this is beautiful way to clear your mind and get your day started. Silence is a very powerful tool. Let your thoughts come and go as you sit with your eyes closed. There are tons of apps for meditation, my favorite right now is the Chopra app.

  • Morning Drink- have your go to drink in the morning, this could be hot tea, matcha, or a yummy cup of coffee. Try to sit down, enjoy your drink before running out the door. Take time to sit and think about how you want your day to go.

  • Abhyanga massage + hot shower - I love this practice in the morning. This is an Ayurvedic technique done before a shower, where you dry brush your body and then massage the body with oil for your specific dosha. It increases circulation, calms the nerves, assists in elimination, softens + smoothes skin, etc.

Have a YOU Day

Spend a whole day just for you. Do anything and everything you love. Take yourself on a date to the beach or to a yummy lunch nourishing your body. Go get your nails done and get a 90 min massage. Leave your phone and all social media back at home! Just wake up and let the day guide you on a fun YOU day!

Practice Gratitude

It is really hard to not compare our lives to others. Breaking this habit can be really life changing! Become grateful and practice gratitude for what you have and what you are capable of doing! Appreciate what you have in your life.

  • Keep a gratitude journal- add to it everyday just a few words of what you are grateful for. Go back and reread what you wrote at the end of each month.

  • Notice the beauty in nature- I always feel extremely grateful when I go for a walk in nature. We live in a beautiful world, go be outside and appreciate the beauty surrounding us.

  • Speak kindly to yourself- Tell yourself each day a part of your life that you are grateful for. This can be your friends, family, work, or yourself.

Having a self-love practice in your life will offer you endless peace found within. We are all on the crazy journey of life together, but at the end of the day you are you, so be thankful for who you are and love yourself.
